Island Soul Rum Bar & Soul Shack

A Black-owned, family-operated Caribbean and soul food restaurant in Columbia City, open since before 2007 (originally on MLK Way, current location since 2007). The Martin family runs the business. The menu blends Caribbean flavors with Southern soul food — jerk chicken, oxtails, mac and cheese, collard greens. The rum bar features Caribbean rums and tropical cocktails. Live music on Friday evenings starting at 7pm. Monthly drag shows ("Queens of Island Soul") on the fourth Saturday. The restaurant is a neighborhood anchor in the Rainier Ave corridor.
